I don’t think a lot of people fully realize how upset the Mega Man fans are at the design and inclusion of the bad artwork Mega Man in Street Fight X Tekken, so I thought I’d make a hypothetical scenario to mimic the situation.
What if J.K. Rowling wrote all the Harry Potter books up to The Half Blood Prince and then left it there for about 10 years. Then all at once she promised the conclusion to the story line and promised Pottermore at the same time. She also decided to let all the fans help with the story and creation with a line like, “You help Harry find where the horcruxes are!” Then, she decides to scrap the Pottermore completely leaving the fate of the final book in question. Next after a couple months it happens, she cancels the writing of the final book, all those fans that knew about it, or were just hearing about it because the press around it was small, no longer have a conclusion. Well that would make you very upset, wouldn’t it? Unfortunately it doesn’t end there. Next she criticizes the fans saying they were supposed to write the book, not her the author, but us the fans. Finally, after a couple months of stewing, she decides to put Harry Potter in some other series as a cameo. At first you think, “This will be awesome, I know it’s not Harry Potter, but at least they are showing interest in the character still.” However instead of doing something to earn the respect of the core fans she takes Harry and basically makes a mockery of his design and makes him into a whiny kid in the vain of that Batman meme where he goes, “My parents are DDDDDDEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDD.”
That’s everything Capcom did to us, there is one exception though, the creator of MegaMan, Keiji Inafune, who left Capcom prior to this happening, stepped in and asked if he could complete Mega Man Legends 3 and Capcom denied him. This is the character that he created and it was denied to his new studio. It could have still been a Capcom game but with his studio.
So that’s how we feel, or at least that’s how I feel.
